6-foot, 185-pound backstop is a former Mizzou commit and a three time state champion with Baylor School. Larrea possesses some of the best defensive makeup between committed and uncommitted prospects. Elite receiver w/ soft hands working up through the ball, stealing low strikes while handling advanced arms. Soft body on blocks, deadening the ball out in front. Consistently popped in the 1.90s (w/ a best of 1.85 at PA State Games) w/ a catcher velo of 81, which led him to a top 5 finish at the 2020 PBR Future Games overall. He’s continued to progress offensively, staying compact in his swing, spraying the ball to all fields w/ an exit velo of 90 in 2020. Larrea is head and shoulder the best all around catcher prospect available at this point, especially for schools looking for an advanced defender and solid offensive game.

6-foot, 175-pound catcher is a defensive guru behind the dish. Advanced receiving and blocking w/ a great ability to steal low strikes and great plate presentation. Strong arm and quick transitions, popped one of the best overall times during the FG showcase (1.92-2.01). Very stealthy behind the plate with great target presentation. Offensively, right-handed hitter w/ some room to go at the dish (Max Exit Velo: 88.5 mph via Trackman), but continues to improve and consistently provides good at bats. Relaxed, upright stance w/ minor leg kick, generating solid bat speed with line drive/fly ball approach. Larrea will continue to work to round out his game, but one of the best defensive backstops on the market with a history of handling elite pitching.

Hard consistent contact during the batting practice portion. Defensively- the C displayed active footwork during the defensive portion. Quick transfer and release from a high ¾ arm slot. Impressive throwing performance with a pop time range of 1.90-1.99. As a 3B, Larrea moved well laterally. Takes his time to gather himself when making the throws across the infield.
