Genau sits in at 5-foot-9; 145 pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.29 – 60 at NYS Games showcase. Offensively- Stance is square to the plate with a wide base and hands in front of back shoulder. Slight bat movement before a trigger of a soft step forward with his hands moving back slightly, getting into a good hitting position. Quick hands into the hitting zone with good bat action through to a high two handed finish. Great lower body rotation. Provides a lot of bat speed for his size with a recorded 83 mph exit velocity. Hit an exit velocity of 85 in February 2016. Defensively-Good footwork and approach to baseball. Good hands in front with allowing for a fluid funnel to the chest with good arm action. Gets in front of baseball and throws well on the run. Recorded a position velocity of 77 mph.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Genau stands 5-foot-8, 140-pounds with a slight but athletic build and showed + pop in the bat for an undersized guy with an 85-mph exit velocity. Offensively- Sets up outside shoulder width with hands head high. Leans on his backside before load and then attacks the ball with slight incline. Does not get cheated at the plate. Defensively- Showed great feel up the middle with soft quick hands and great footwork. Arm strength was an increased 77-mph from a previous 71-mph which shows great improvement. Genau looks like a solid all around player with good feel for the game and could surprise some people this spring and summer.
Buckeye Elite Showcase- OH (July 8, 2015)
5-foot-8, 145-pound thinner, athletic body frame, with room to fill out with. Uses pretty good footwork to approach ground balls, could improve by playing through the baseball consistently. Fields with his hands out in front of his body. Throws with a clean, short arm action coming from a low ¾ slot, reaching a top velocity of 71 mph.
