Solid backstop at 5-foot-7 180 pounds with an improved release; pop times ranged from 1.91-2.02. Also flashed some serviceable skills on the infield with a suitable left side arm and active footwork.

Betances stands in at 5-foot-8, 180-pounds with a strong and thick athletic frame. Ran a 7.93 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up slightly open with his feet inside shoulder width. Has an upright torso showing pre-pitch bat movement with his hands held in front of his back shoulder. On pitch his trigger is a quick stride forward while his hands move back and slightly down to get into his hitting position. Has quick hands to the hitting zone with a level bat path throughout into a high two handed finish. Shows good lower body rotation getting whole body frame involved into the swing. Demonstrated good plate coverage and line drive ability during batting practice rounds. Recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH. Defensively- Shows good footwork and quick hands making the transition from the glove to the throwing position when catching. Could remain lower on the throw avoiding standing straight up. Demonstrated accurate throws hitting the middle infielder on the inside part of second base. Recorded a pop times in the 2.02-2.10 range. Showed good mechanics fielding the ball as an infielder. Has a quick transition from glove to throwing hand with a quick arm swing and aggressive follow through towards his intended throwing target. Recorded a positional arm velocity in the infield and as a catcher at 75 MPH. Overall a solid two positional collegiate prospect.

The compact backstop packs alot of punch hitting from a spread stance with minimal movement. Line drive/groundball contact. Pop times ranged from 2.13 to 2.27 today, up a notch from his indoors best of 2.06. Threw a bullpen, touching 78 MPH with a 66-68 MPH breaking ball with late downward bite.

Stands at 5-foot-8, 165 pounds, with an athletic body build. Defensively - As a catcher, he throws with a clean loose action his throws he moves athletic, quick transfer with hand getting close to ear, throws from a high 3/4 slot. He receives the ball with smooth, soft hands and has a clean transfer. He blocks the ball really nicely and keeps everything in front of him. His pop times were consistently at 2.06 down to second base. Offensively - At the plate his setup is relaxed and balanced (Slightly open), Short to no stride, with a back load. His hands are very compact and strong, swinging on a slight upward tilt plane, good extension, with a shoulder finish through the ball.
