Dessingue, a 2021 right-handed hitting third baseman/RHP, stands at 5-foot-6 and weighs 152 pounds, ran a 8.06 60. Offensively- Starts with an open base with a shift of weight to the back leg with the hands above the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is parallel to the ground. Gets into the launch phase of the swing using a moderate stride, without closing up the front side, while the hands are loaded straight back off the shoulder with the barrel wrapped slightly behind the head. Peppered the ball from the pull side gap to the opposite field gap during batting practice. Recorded an exit velocity of 77 MPH, which would greatly improve with a more aggressive rotation of the back hip creating much more bat speed. Defensively- Gets into a pre-pitch position with the feet shoulder width apart. Approaches the ball aggressively, fielding the ball, flipping the glove, with a slight turn of the body to the right side. Transfers the ball from the waits moving the arm in longer circular path. Registered an arm velocity of 69 MPH on the day. Pitching- Starts from the third base side of the rubber, feet shoulder width apart and hands in front of the chest. Gets into the gathered position with a step towards the first base line while the pivot foot drags center rubber with the hands elevating chin height and lead knee above the waist. Lead foot sticks the landing with the toe pointing straight towards the catcher while the lead elbow gets loose well outside the body. The fastball, thrown from a low ¾ arm slot, topping out at 69 MPH showing good sink as well as run to the arm side. The changeup, topping out at 57 MPH, showed quality depth and rotation as well as a good differential of speed from the fastball.
