New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)

Weisman has an athletic 5-foot-10, 180-pound build, plays OF/RHP. He ran a 7.40 60, with a 7.31 on record. Offensively- Weisman hits from the left side with an upright stance. Hands start above ears and lower down to back shoulder with good separation during load. Small stride with quick hands and upward lift at times. Back need pushes well to the front leg during swing to generate power. Finishes upright and on back leg with a high one-arm finish. 90 MPH exit velocity (up 5 MPH from Feb 2016). Defensively- Attacks ball well in the outfield with a smooth glove. Clean transfer and reaches back to create long, powerful arm action. Weisman has outstanding hip rotation and comes over the top with a impressive 86 MPH from the outfield (up 3 MPH from Feb. 2016). Pitching- Drop step to the first base side, slight drift in that direction as well. Knee is just above the belt at balance point, lands slightly open and pulls down on the ball from an over the top arm angle. Firm front side finish and falls off to the first base line. FB was 77-80 MPH, CB was 70-72 MPH.

Long Island Preseason Preview (February, 18, 2016)

Offensively- Smooth left handed swing that generates good lower half rotation with exceptional extension.  Could benefit from increased overall strength training but has great hands and bat speed registering 85 MPH exit velocity off the tee. A little tension in his upper body actually holds his bat speed back a little bit so there is room for improvement and needs to focus on getting his front foot down sooner to recognize the pitch. Defensively- Showed plus footwork when fielding and a good understanding of crow hop mechanics.  Needs to work on gaining a little more momentum through the ball and transfer the ball sooner which will decrease his release time. Arm strength at 83 MPH. Pitching - Small step to the side when working from the windup, work downhill and has a decent front side with room for improvement.  Fastball topped out at 81 MPH with good giddy-up.  His Changeup ranged 75-76 MPH but lacked proper pronation in his arm to maximize deception and movement. 6-to-12 action on his Curveball allows for a good repertoire of 3 pitches and it was 70-71 MPH.
Battle at the Border (October 18, 2015)
Strong looking outfielder with dual potential. Offensively- James hits from a balance stance with a controlled load and calm stride. Aggressive lower half explodes through the ball. Easy effort up top with good bat control. Defensively- Showed an aggressive approach in the outfield. Gathers himself well, storing up momentum into his throws. Corner outfield projection. Pitching- James uses a controlled side step up to a compact balance point. Repeats his delivery and is able to work downhill. Breaking ball has some 12-6 action while FB is best when arm side movement takes over.

New York Games (July 7-9, 2015)
Has an athletic frame at 5-foot-10, 175-pounds. Defensively- Has a good feel for position, fields the ball cleanly, soft hands and quick to transfer, shows great range and lateral movement to the ball, good arm action with a high-3/4 arm slot. Offensively- At the plate is very athletic and relaxed at setup, uses a smooth load and short stride to the pitch, hands are long over the plate with great extension through the zone, has solid projection as a hitter with consistent contact and power potential.
