Power / Speed Score
A simple calculation that divides the athlete’s Exit Velocity Max by the athlete’s 60 Yard Dash time for the given event year. For example, 98 MPH / 7.00s = 14.00.
Physical: Very strong 6-foot-2, 200lb frame with a thick lower half and power available. 7.50 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: LHH - Balanced, even stance at a crouched position and the hands showed slight, controlled rhythm. Utilized a lift and replace stride out towards the pitcher, initiating the bat head through a slightly uphill, lifted path into the hitting zone. Posted a T97 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak, staying short and direct to the ball in every quadrant of the plate. A 353 foot batted ball distance (300+ foot average via Trackman) suggests big-time middle of the order consideration with doubles power (occasional HR juice to pull). Recorded a 45% line drive, 55% fly ball rate split, with a natural feel for the barrel during his round; close follow offensively.
Defensively: The first baseman shifted calmly in either direction from a moderate, even posture. Presented the glove hand on-time out in front, funneling cleanly off his right side and released with average pace to the target from a lower ¾ slot (77 mph arm, accurate).
2/19/21
Physical: 6’2 200lb 1B ran a 7.86 laser timed 60-yard dash. Solid frame has natural strength with room to add more speed and quickness.
Offensively: He starts in a shoulder width stance with his knees slightly bent. His hands are pushed forward but he loads them back as he uses a leg kick and stride forward to begin his timing mechanism. His barrel path works flat through the zone and allows his natural strength to play into his swing.
Defensively: He moves slow and controlled around the bag. He fields the ball in the center of his body with two hands as he funnels and restarts propelling his momentum in the direction of his target. His arm works from a ¾ arm slot and engages his entire body on the throw.
2/20/20
Physical: 5-foot-11, 165-pounds. Athletic, lean frame. 8.09 runner in the 60; 4.84 home-to-1B. Offensively: LHH. Athletic, slightly crouched stance with some bend in the knees, an even base, bat rests on his back shoulder, uses a medium leg kick for timing Quick bat through the zone, fast hands, bat path is flat to the zone and finishes high, good use of the lower half. Lots of hard contact to the pull side. 83 MPH raw exit velocity. Defensively: Starts low and uses deliberate footwork on approach, fields the ball just inside his glove foot. Medium arm swing with an over the top slot. INF - 75 MPH.
