The highest Edge Score within the given year. Edge Score is a comprehensive score that takes the core-six visual skills into account, providing an assessment of an athlete’s overall visual ability.
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 166lb frame with a high waist. 7.46 runner in the 60-yard dash.
Offensively: RHH - Upright, even stance as the hands showed some rhythm above the shoulder. Utilized a leg lift stride, holding the rear hip on the forward move and initiated through a flat path into the zone. Easy swing that produced lots of fluidity in the box, lifting the baseball when pitched out over the plate (30% fly ball rate via Trackman). Notched a T86 mph bat-exit velocity at his peak for doubles power to the pull-side gap (320 foot batted ball). Demonstrated good connection and proper sequencing at the plate.
Defensively: The outfielder played behind the baseball, moving laterally early in routes to eventually get downhill with pace. A soft glove hand fielded low off his left side, exchanging in rhythm and released from a H ¾ slot (83 mph arm, corner OF projection).
Pitching: RHP - Started off the far left side of the rubber with adequate pace, getting to a balanced stack and drove down the rubber in-line using some drop/drive in the delivery. H ¾ slot and a stiff/firm front side blocking off, as the FB landed at 80-83 mph working up to T2224rpms at its peak. Mixed a sharp, swing/miss CB at 67-69 mph flashing consistent depth and sweep across the plate. Then spun the ball laterally on a commanded 65-67 mph SL (T19 inches HM).
2/13/21
Physical: 5-foot-10, 166LBS. Has some projectability in the frame and is an athletic mover. 7.79SEC 60-Yard Dash.
Offensively: Begins with feet shoulder width apart and weight balanced. Promotes hip, shoulder separation in the set up. Hands work back into a strong load position, with only slight bend in the elbow. Early connection sets up the barrel path for success. Barrel is flat to slightly down through the hitting zone with a high, two hand finish. Simple, repeatable swing.
Defensively: Athletic and fluid actions in the OF. Maintains a low chest angle as ball is approaching. Utilizes both a pro step and crow hop during the exchange. Arm circle is clean and efficient. Spin in true and creates carry on the throw.
Pitching: RHP. Sets up on the 1B side of the rubber. Hands begin at waist height and work up as he goes through the delivery. Uses a rocker step and a leg lift to chest. On glove break the arm goes through the circle with slight bend in the elbow. The arm action is clean and works without restrictions. Lead leg works down and out as he works down the mound. Remains controlled and fluid throughout the delivery. High 3/4 release point.
