Martinez stands in at 5-foot-11, 160-pounds with a lean athletic frame. Ran a 6.95 – 60. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet shoulder width apart. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso holding his hands in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a knee raise in to stride forward while his hands move back slightly into the hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation getting whole body involved in the swing. Hands are long to the hitting zone causing the bat to drag. A more direct path to the baseball would fix and develop more exit velocity and power. Demonstrated ability to drive the ball to the opposite field side during batting practice round. Recorded an exit velocity of 87 MPH. Defensively- Shows a good approach and footwork getting underneath the baseball. Has a quick transition from glove to throwing position with an appropriate outfielder arm swing. Moves well left/right and was accurate with throws. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 77 MPH.
