East-West Battle (July 2017)
Large frame corner infielder who showed improved range and showed carry on some deep ground balls. Moved to SS late and played the part. Little uncomfortable at the plate with a steady diet of off-speed but has big time pop as evidenced from past events.
12/4/16

6-foot-5, 215-pound, large, long, athletic frame. The shoulders are sloped, the limbs are long, has plenty of room for future development. A right-handed hitter, the stance is slightly wider than shoulder width and its slightly open. The stride is under control, gains some ground and gets back to even. The hands are set above the back shoulder, are loose and has a little movement in getting his hands back. The swing is down to level to up and finishes with two hands. The entire body is used in hitting the baseball. The tee exit velocity was 91 mph, and ran a 7.32, top time so far in 5 PBR events. The approach is gap to gap, should have above average power to the allies as he gets stronger. Defensively, the hands are soft, works from the ground up. The feet more well to both sides, probably projects out more as a corner infielder. The arm action is loose, throws from a little lower than a ¾ slot. The touch is very good across the diamond, was clocked at 80 mph, showed to have very good life to it. Big time prospect, projects out to be extremely physical, comes from good bloodlines, brother is playing division 1 baseball.

NY All-Star Games (September 17, 2016)
Volpi stands in at 6-foot-5, 220-pounds with a tall lean athletic frame. Ran a 7.33 – 60, an improvement from his previous recorded best of 7.4 in January 2016. Offensively- Sets up square to the pitcher with a wide base. Slight knee bend with an upright torso with his hands just above his back shoulder showing little bat movement pre-pitch. On pitch his trigger is quick knee raise into a simple stride forward with his hands moving back into a good hitting position. Quick hands to the hitting zone with good bat action throughout the zone into a high two handed finish. Bat path shows gap to gap potential with quick hands and upward lift. Powerful lower body rotation getting the whole 6-foot-4 frame into the swing. Smooth and fluid swing. Recorded an exit velocity of 86 MPH with a previous recorded velocity of 90 mph in January 2016. Defensively- Good footwork and approach to baseball. Fluid fielding mechanics with good transition into throwing position with aggressive movement towards target;  74 MPH  across the diamond (previous best of 78 MPH). Fields the ball well on the run with a quick first step. Listed at SS; long term projections would point to a corner but did look serviceable up the middle during workout and during game play.
NY State Open ID (January 31, 2016)
E ric stands in at an intimidating 6-foot-5, 215 pounds. The left side infielder ran an improved 7.40 60 and a 4.40 home-to-1B. Offensively- Eric starts in a spread stance with a slight wrap of the barrel during his load. Uses and up-down leg kick for his stride and stays back into contact. For his size he's able to tuck the hands in and stay short to contact. Moderate extension with line drive and gap contact. Additional acceleration/weight transfer through contact will help him reach his full power potential. Impressive 90 MPH exit velocity. Defensively- Very soft on his feet, quick first step and able to change directions well. Flashes some shortstop actions but the reality of the matter is he will see more time at 3B (or 1B) over the long term. Suitable arm from the left side at 78 MPH with more in the tank. Impressive skill set that will only be more impressive and powerful when he fills out his frame.
CT College Prospect Showcase (December 12, 2015)
At 6-foot-5, 215-pounds, the frame is enormous, has tons of room to add weight, has a major league body. Defensively- In the field, his prep steps are good, gets around balls and fields them out front. Feet work very well with his hands, keeps his body moving towards his target. The arm strength was at 77 mph across the diamond. The arm is clean with no hesitation, it's a lower slot, has a lot more in there if he gathered a bit more and didn't flip it over at times. The back hand plays and slow roller were made with easy effort. Offensively- At the plate, he has a spread out approach. The hands are set just off his shoulders, the bat angle is in a good setup. The path to ball is good, it’s level through the zone with high one-handed finish. The tee exit velocity was 82 mph and ran a 7.60 60-yard dash. Projects out to play at a very high level, could get pushed to the hot corner.
Futures Prospect Showcase (February 28, 2015)
Volpi stands an athletic 6-foot-5, 228-pounds.  With wide shoulders and still room for growth.  Offensively- At the plate he stands open and gets to even with stride.  Front hip stays slightly open, should work on closing this to create more torque.  Hands are high and stay quiet.  Easy, smooth swing with good rhythm.  Good extension out front.  Keeps his head still, and down on the ball. Showed a 74mph exit velocity.  Look for power once he grows into his body. Defensively- In the field he moves very well for his size.  Sleek fielder.  Good footwork and shuffle.  Handles the ball out front.  Throws sidearm, but not sure if that is his usual arm slot.  Gets to balls quickly.  Ran a (7.5) 60yd dash.
