May 2018
The 6-foot 190 pound senior (R/R) pitched and played shortstop. Richards exhibited tremendous patience at the plate.  He walked 4 times and scored a run, inducing 21 pitches from the pitchers he faced.

April 2018
The 6-foot 190 pound senior (R/R) pitched and played second base. Richards has reinvented himself physically over the winter losing a lot mass and replacing it with lean muscle.  In the past year and ½ he has taken almost a second off of his 60 time. He threw 3 innings and faced 21 batters, yielding 8 hits, 8 R, 8 ER, 7 Ks, and 4 BB. His fastball was 79-82 MPH.  His curve was at 68-70.

Downstate Unsigned Senior (October 21, 2017)
East-West Battle (July 2017)
Sturdy frame a 6-foot-0 220 pounds. Competes on the mound at 77-80 with a 64-66 MPH CB.
NY Games (June 25-27, 2017)
Athletic 6-foot, 200-pound right-hander, ran a 7.51/60 - nearly .30 quicker than previous best time. Pitching - uses height to get downward plane on fastball at 78-81 MPH, effectively changes eye level, incorporates positive hip tilt at the balance point. Offensively - uses inner knee rotation with emerging counter rotation between upper and lower torso to generate an exit velocity of 87 MPH, keeps barrel on level path through the zone, full extension after contact, repeatable motion. Defensively - confident footwork, sure hands, smooth transfer from glove to throwing hand with an infield velocity of 75 MPH.
Southern Tier Sluggers Workout

Richards, a 2018 left-handed hitting first baseman/RHP, stands at 6-foot-0 and weighs 210 pounds, ran a
7.80 60, which was 0.20 quicker than the previous event. Offensively-  Starts with a balanced slightly open lower half with the hands held above and in front of the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat is shifted from a 45-degree to straight angle during the pre-pitch. Gets to the launch phase of the swing with a subtle shift of weight to the back side with a pronounced leg lift, with minimum stride distance, while the hands are loaded straight back staying inside the back shoulder while the barrel of the bat gets greater than 45-degrees with some wrap towards the pitcher. Drove the ball well to the opposite field gap with some lift; approach was from the middle to opposite field gap. Registered an impressive exit velocity of 89 MPH, which was a personal best (+9 MPH from last event). Defensively- Uses a chop step technique during the pre-pitch phase, however allows the lower half to get extremely wide. When fielding the ball, fielded with both hands out in front of the body, fielding from the center to left-side but did allow to the ball to get deep into the body causing a delay with the transfer. Moved off the base with good agility, but needs to work more glove side on 3-6-3 double play opportunities. Throws showed good accuracy across the diamond along with strength, registering an arm velocity of 76 MPH. Pitching- Works from the first base side of the rubber, feet angled to the throwing arm side, with both hands set and rested in the center of the body chest height. Gets to the gathered phase of the delivery with a short step towards the first base line while the hands remain center of the body chest height and lead knee is elevated above the waist with the foot pointing up. Sticks the landing with the lead to slightly opened, head centered with the back leg extended creating good drag and lead side firm to the body. The fastball, thrown from an over the top arm angle, topped out at 77 MPH, a new personal best and increase of 3 MPH from last event, showed some arm side run and sink. Located the pitch to the lower third of the zone as well as to both sides of the plate while creating a good down angle. The changeup, topping out at 73 MPH, showed good arm side fade as well as depth, however the differential from the fastball (-4 MPH), could improve. Displayed two curveball types, “get me over” and a put away curve that had more bite and depth. The get over curve showed 12-to-6 shape with loose rotation. The put away curve had much more bite and more of a 11-to-5 shape with tighter spin and action.
Southern Tier Open (August 5, 2015)
Stands at 5-foot-11, 205 pounds, with a bigger, athletic body build.  He ran an 8.00 60 yard dash.  Defensively-At first base looked good fielding through the ball and receiving throws from the position players, throws with a high 3/4 arm slot.  His arm strength was at 70 MPH.  Offensively- At the plate his setup is slightly open stance, little leg kick stride, with a back load.  His hands are very compact, swinging with some uphill tilt, with a high finish with extension through the ball.  His exit velocity was 80 MPH. Pitching- Dylan features a high 3/4 arm slot, almost over the top, producing a heavy FB. Calm with his delivery with a slight recoil after his release. Potential is there to get much more out of his body and lower half. Velocity wise he sat 73-74 MPH with his FB. Curveball possessed a good differential but showed some early action with release not quite making it back out in front. At times it was more in the cutter/slider family.  Change up checked in a bit on the firm side at 68-69 MPH but showed some good downward action. Could benefit from a longer arm action when hands separate and more of a momentum release into his landing, helping his explosion to the plate.
