Comments
Dawson stands at 5-foot-11, 175 pounds, running a 4.47 home to 1B. Offensively- Dawson starts with a narrow, open stance, with a controlled load. Shows extension to his pull side. Dawson hit an exit velocity of 90 MPH, but has showed as high as 93 MPH. Line drive with some lift off the bat. Defensively- From the OF, Dawson displayed an arm velocity of 78 MPH. Demonstrated a quick first step with acceleration. Will need to tighten up the footwork (crowhop) once he has the ball to help with his transition into throwing.
New York Games (June 27-29, 2016)
Stands 5-foot-11, 175-pounds with a lean athletic build. The multi-sport standout ran a 6.89 60-yard dash, threw it 78-mph from the outfield and had a 93-mph exit velocity. Offensively- Sets up with a slightly open stance and strides back to line. Bat loads back well creating separation and has a consistently direct bat path through the zone. Finishes with good extension. Shows the ability to hit for average at the next level, rarely missing a baseball. Throughout the games he was one of the most consistent bats, seeming to always barrel balls well even on hard outs. Defensively- Has above average ability in the outfield tracking balls from center field. Has the speed and awareness to play center at the next level.
