New York Games (June 27-29)
Kale is a lean 6-foot-2 and 170 pounds (up 5 pounds from Jan. 2016). He ran a 7.02 60 with a 6.74 indoors in Jan. 2016. Offensively- Fairly wide base from the right side, hands at ear level. Kale has a small leg kick to get weight on his back side with good hand separation. Good hip rotation prior to contact, but can improve on continuing to push that back knee toward the front knee during contact. Hands stay inside ball nicely and finishes with a shoulder height 2-handed finish. Slightly open stance from the left side with hands farther back towards the shoulder, still at ear height. Separates hands well and bat angle is upward. Hands stay inside ball well, and rotates hips quickly. Heel lift with no stride and finishes a bit higher from the left side, but still with 2 hands. Exit velocity: 87 MPH (up 6 MPH form Jan. 2016). Defensively- Approaches ball cleanly and transfers ball from glove to hand smoothly. Has long arm action, reaches back and throws from a ¾ slot. With a little more momentum going with throw he can continue to improve his 81 MPH arm (up 6 MPH from Jan. 2016).
NY Open ID (January 31, 2016)
David is a rangy 6-foot-2 165 pound switching hitting outfielder who ran a 6.74 60 and a 3.79 home-to-1B from the left side. Offensively- From the right side starts in a spread stance with his hands off his back shoulder with a 30 degree bat angle. Uses short load back of the hands with a short stride. Stays back well with hands leading swing and lower half finishing off late. Short swing path into the zone with line drive results, using the whole field. As a LHH, his stance mirrors the right side with his front shoulder slightly elevated. Is more aggressive with lower half from the left side with a similar short stroke into the zone with his finish more to his pull side. Line drive/groundball results. Top exit velocity was 81 MPH. Tablesetter mold, someone who will put the pressure on the defense. Defensively- In the outfield David uses a controlled approach that leads him into an aggressive crowhop. Plays the ball on the ground outside lead leg. Accurate throws with a peak velocity of 75 MPH. Stays behind the ball well, working through the catch with flyballs.  LF/CF type at the next level.
