5-foot-10, 180-pound right-hander sat 80-81 from a high 3/4 arm slot with arm-side run to his fastball. Some hip coil to his delivery adds some deception. Curveball showed rolling 11/5 rotation at 66-69. Changeup was thrown at near fastball arm speed at 73-74. Delivery is balanced and repeatable. With solid frame and mechanics additional velocity spikes are possible moving forward.
8/7/18: St. John Fisher (Campus Series)
Stands 5-foot-10, 180-pounds with a durable frame. Sound mechanics to his delivery, thick lower half, high knee lift, drives hard down the powerline. Arm-action is back towards 2B and longer, quick in the front. Fastball 77-79 with natural arm-side run, CB has small 11/4 shape 66-67, CH 73 with cut action.
Diamond Pro Workout (January 14, 2017)
Guichard checks in at slightly built/wiry 5-foot-6, 140 pounds. Recorded a time of 4.8 seconds from home to first base. Offensively- Starts with a wide stance with moderate flexion; hands are at shoulder height with a wiggle in his bat. Uses a small leg kick but floats front foot. Hands push back to trigger swing. Body weight shifts over front foot through swing. Hand path is inside ball and barrel is direct to contact. Swing is flat and full extension occurs after contact with middle of the field groundball/line drive results. Exit velocity was recorded at 65 MPH off of the tee. Defensively- Set up is narrow with all bend coming at waist. Choppy steps to the ball; hands are deep under his body and most weight in on his heels. Used a crossover step to start his throw that was measured at 71 MPH across the diamond. Pitching- Sets up on first base side of rubber with feet together. Legs are straight with hands in front of chin. Uses very small side step to allow right foot to pivot onto rubber. Front leg kicks high to top of chest and extends far forward landing slightly open to 1B side. Back leg comes though slowly and some velocity could be added with better push off from backside. Arm gets slightly out of line towards 1B on backswing. Arm comes through at low ¾ slot with some late whip like action. Fastball was clocked from 68-70 MPH and also showed a changeup with good arm speed at 61 MPH.
