Comments
Stanton has a solid build at 6-foot-1 175 pounds. Offensively- Hands at ear level, bat slightly cocked behind head. Open stance with weight distributed nicely to his back leg. Small toe touch stride, keeps head level and explodes to the ball with a smooth weight shift to the front leg. Stays long through the zone and finishes with a pure two-handed high finish. Exit velocity: 90 MPH (2 MPH increase from 2/2016), with line drive/gap ability. Recent commit to Farleigh Dickinson, Stanton will be an early offensive contributor at the next level.
Preseason All-State (February 28, 2016)
Stanton stands an 6-foot-1, 175-pounds with a lean athletic frame built to hold more good-weight. He was another outfielder that shined at the Preseason event with his 7.01 60-yard dash, 4.05 home to first time and some projectable-pop in the bat with an 88-mph exit velocity. Offensively- Sets up with his knees bent and feet outside shoulder width. Creates good tilt with the bat and shows great use of his lower half. Bat path is short and compact with slight incline, repeatable and smooth with a high athletic finish. Defensively- Shows smooth actions and a clean transfer. Arm velocity was 79-mph which leaves some room for improvement. Overall though Stanton is a well built athletic outfielder with speed and looks to be a next level hitter as well.
