Genge, a 2020 right-handed hitting catcher with good size, stands at 5-foot-11 and weighs in at 170 pounds, ran a 8.20 60. Offensively- Starts with an upright slightly open lower half with the hands above and in front of the back shoulder and barrel of the bat parallel to the ground. Gets to the launch phase of the swing using a slight shift of weight to the backside while the front foot is lifted about shin height and hands are loaded to the outside of the back shoulder with the barrel getting almost straight up and down. During batting practice drove the ball mostly from center field to the pull side gap, especially driving the pitch located on the bottom inner third of the zone. Exit velocity of 76 MPH, could improve if the hands could stay behind the rotation of the hip which would help with extension and getting a cleaner and more parallel bat path. Defensively- Athletic primary stance with the weight centered, and elbow is below the glove when the target is given. Received the ball well at the bottom of the zone, using a flicking action with the wrist to present the ball well and keep it in the zone. Throws to second base, uses a jump pivot method with the lower half. The ball is transferred clean from the center of the body, however the shoulders start an inward rotation which causes the throwing to get long and lose the timing with the lower half. Throws could improve with getting the flead foot down quicker which would help keep the rest of the body in sync. On the day recorded an arm velocity of 67 MPH and a best pop time of 2.40.

Tall and big bodied pitcher. Strong lower half. Delivers from only the stretch using a slide step. Predominantly a fastball pitcher which sat in the upper 70’s and touched 81 MPH. Showed a slow curveball that was a good change of speed from his fastball sitting in the low 60’s. More velocity to come with a projectable upside. He uses a tall stance at the plate and a small leg kick for timing, from the right side. Barreled the ball up with some loud contact all day including a triple that was smoked down the right field line.
