Bach has tremendous size and strength to his game, standing 6-foot-4, 205-pounds with even more physicality to come. Ran a 4.51 home-to-first time on lasers Feb. 22. At the plate, loose hands from a slightly open stance. Strides back to even on the pitch, barrel path is direct on a slight incline, fluid throughout entire swing with a full finish. Signs of power projection showing off an 87 mph exit velocity and expect to see that increase come this summer. Defensively, wide large target, receives with confidence. Extremely fast glove to hand transfer, releases from a high 3/4 slot, impressive 77 mph arm-strength with an event best 1.91 pop time. Exciting catching prospect that has just started to make a name for himself.
Campus Series-Albany (July 18, 2017)
Bach stands in at 6-foot-4, 195-pounds with a tall athletic frame. Offensively- Righty sets up square to the pitcher with his feet outside shoulder width. Shows a slight knee bend with an upright torso hold the bat in front of the back shoulder using little pre-pitch bat movement. On pitch, his trigger is a quick stride forward while his hands move back slightly into his hitting position. Utilizes good lower body rotation clearing the hips using his whole-body frame in the pitch. Shows quick hands into the hitting zone with level barrel action throughout into a high two-handed finish. Demonstrated potential line drive ability up the middle and to the pull side during batting practice round. Clean swing with a lot more potential when more strength is added. Recorded an exit velocity of 82 MPH. Defensively- Good approach and footwork to the baseball. Smooth fielding mechanics with a quick funnel and transition into the throwing position. Has aggressive footwork towards target and moves well left/right and in on the run. Whole fielding process could be quicker but will come with more reps and development. Recorded a positional arm velocity of 74 MPH. Behind the plate, frames well with a quiet body. Good throwing mechanics down to second. Shows quick feet with an appropriate catcher’s arm swing. Recorded a positional arm velocity as a catcher at 71 MPH and a pop time range of 2.12-2.21.
