A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball

A fastball with sink has low backspin and drops through the strike zone. When thrown down in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher ground ball percentage and lower launch angle. Sink+ of 100 is MLB average.
Fastball

A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Physical: Lean, athletic 5-foot-10, 170lb frame with good proportions on the bump.
Pitching: RHP - Started off the far right side of the rubber from the stretch-only. Used a slightly above-average leg lift to get to the top of a balanced stack, holding tempo and athleticism into footstrike on his move down the slope. Good arm talent from an OTT slot, pounding strikes with ASR at 83-85 mph on the FB (arm-side run). Mixed in a hard-sweeping 70-74 mph CB at a 10/4 tilt with up to 20 inches of HM at his peak (get me over type, strikeout version available when manipulating).
7/02/19
A lean athletic frame at 5-foot-8, 145 pounds. Ran a 7.70 in the 60 yard dash. Offensively- the right handed hitter stands in the box with feet shoulder width apart and loose hands. Takes a short stride towards the pitcher before entering the hitting zone. Short compact swing. Displayed hard consistent contact during batting practice. Gets good extension after contact and finishes with a one hand follow through. Top exit velocity was 74 MPH. Defensively- the infielder displayed an aggressive approach to the baseball. Stays under control when approaching the ball. Gets in a wide low base when fielidng the baseball. Smooth funnel action and quick release from a high ¾ arm slot. Strong arm which peaked at 81 MPH. Pitching- the right handed pitcher displayed a repeatable delivery and a projectable live arm. Works with tempo. Displayed good FB command which peaked at 79 MPH and ranged from 75-78 MPH. CB is tight at 62-64 MPH and feel for a Ch with late fade at 65-67 MPH. The 2023 graduate will be a must follow going forward.
