Cape Cod- Godman struggled as a third-year sophomore at OU this spring, posting a 6.49 ERA and a .312 opponents’ batting average in 34.2 innings, mostly in relief. But he did throw strikes (31-12 K-BB), and he continued to do so in the Cape (20-5 K-BB in 17.2 IP), but still posted a 6.11 ERA. An athletic 6-foot-2, 195-pound righty with a long, loose arm swing to a three-quarters slot, Godman has some corkscrew Sergio Romo-esque deception to his operation. He produced 91-93 mph heat with low effort in our look, and hte pitch has average spin rates in the 2200-2300 rpm range. He also showed very good feel for a sharp three-quarters slurve at 76-79 mph, which he landed for a strike and also used to generate swing-and-misses. To this point in his career, Godman’s results don’t match up with his quality stuff, but he remains an arm of interest and could be a breakout candidate heading into 2022.
