2020 DRAFT: Chamberlain has a lightning-quick arm and had always shown electric stuff out of the bullpen. This spring he has moved into the Friday starter role and proved that he can maintain the quality of his stuff throughout, despite his undersized stature at 5-foot-10, 175 pounds. He racked up 12 strikeouts over 5.1 scoreless innings at Mississippi State, pitching at 92-94 mph for the first two innings, then settling in comfortably at 90-93 into the sixth. His calling card is his breaking ball, which ranged from 75-79 mph, usually showing sharp 12-to-6 break and excellent depth. It's a consistently solid-average offering that flashes plus, a true swing-and-miss pitch. Chamberlain's size might give scouts pause about investing a high pick in him, but his pure stuff, extreme competitiveness, excellent poise and good delivery make him an easy top five round talent regardless.

As a junior, he has moved into the Friday starter role, and he’s proving that he can maintain the quality of his stuff throughout a full start despite his undersized stature. Chamberlain racked up 12 strikeouts over 5.1 scoreless innings Friday at Mississippi State, pitching at 92-94 for the first two innings, then settling in comfortably at 90-93 into the sixth. He has a clean high three-quarters arm action and mostly showed good command of his fastball, aside from a bout of spottiness in the fourth inning. Chamberlain’s calling card is his breaking ball, which ranged from 75-79 mph, usually showing sharp 12-to-6 break and excellent depth, but occasionally showing more lateral tilt, particularly when he threw it harder. It’s a consistently solid-average to above-average offering that flashes plus, a true swing-and-miss pitch. He also threw some changeups at 83-85 but did not have great feel for the offering on this day, instead back-footing and back-dooring his breaking ball effectively against righties. Chamberlain’s size might give scouts pause about investing a high pick in him, but his pure stuff, extreme competitiveness, excellent poise and good delivery make him an easy top-10-rounds talent regardless, with a chance to sneak into the top five. 3/9/19: Undersized lefty who pitches with sneaky athleticism. 5-foot-10, 172 pounds. FB sat 91-92 from release. Loose, clean arm action with some effort out front at release. CB shows late bite on its 2/7 break. Attacks the zone with both offerings. Quick paced delivery with consistent direction towards target. Off to an impressive start this season. (Jurik)
