Physical: Athletic, wiry build. 6-foot, 160LBS. Very projectable. Albany Commit.
Pitching: Efficient mover on the mound, running the FB up to 86MPH. Begins on the 1B side of rubber. Utilizes a rocker step that works into a leg lift to chest height. Hands work in collaboration with the leg lift. Arm action is clean and works without restrictions. Upon glove break arm works down and back, maintaining a desirable slight bend in the elbow. Moves in a straight line down the mound. Tight glove side.
McCaffrey has a wiry, athletic frame at 5-foot-11, 155-pounds. On the mound, he showed some arm speed with a long arm action and an H-3/4 slot. He is a drop-and-drive type pitcher. He produced a fastball that came in at 80-81 mph; and topped out at 82 mph; fastball showed some armside action. His curveball (66-69 mph) had the most depth when he located it down by the hitter’s knees; showed 11/5 bite for strikes. His changeup (69-70 mph) had some armside fade as well.
