Vartolone has a strong and athletic frame at 6-foot, 175-pounds. On the mound, starts tall on the left side of the rubber. Long, loose, clean arm action. Comes from a high 3/4 arm slot. Is slightly open at footstrike. Uphill shoulder tilt as he goes down the mound. Moves his hands in sync with his leg kick. High frontside. Fastball was easily located all over the zone at 82-83 MPH, touching 84 MPH. Curveball was nearly 12/6, clear shape and depth when at the bottom of the zone. CB sat at 62-63 MPH. Changeup had straight fade at 71-72 MPH. Slider displayed some sweeping action across the zone at 67-68 MPH.

Repeatable delivery. Keeps his hands locked in place during his motion. Gets into a hip hinge position early and over the rubber. Strong brace leg. Even shoulder tilt down the mound. Throws with intent and conviction. Fastball was always at the bottom of the zone at 78-80 MPH, reaching 81 MPH. Curveball showed 11/5 shape in the zone, and sharp at times at 68-70 MPH.
