2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Napolitano has an athletic build at 5-foot-11 175-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.60-seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 84 MPH. Offensively – starts in a narrow, opened stance with weight on back side. Uses a small stride to recenter body to homeplate to get ready to swing. Hand load is minimal, but hands move back slightly before swing starts. Tall finish with stiff front leg. Shows some lift to follow through. Defensively – took reps at SS. Throws topped at 79 MPH across the infield with backspin and carry from an over the top slot. Smooth, soft hands with a quick exchange. Pitching – stood out as one of the most effective pitchers in terms of efficiency from the whole event. Fastball topped at 80 MPH and sat mostly 77-79 from an over the top slot. Short arm action with a slight stab in arm swing. Able to command curveball for strikes down in the zone at 68-70 with tight 12/6 break. Filled up the strike zone in his two innings of work. Tall, stiff balance leg – tall/fall pitcher with uphill shoulders going down the mound. Strong, firm front landing leg, will fall toward first base side on finish.
Preseason All-State Showcase (February 11th, 2017)
Napolitano has a stocky, athletic build at 5-foot-9 165-pounds. Ran an 8.27 60 yard dash. Offensively- starts in an opened stance with weight on back leg and hands above back shoulder. When pitch comes in he squares himself back to homeplate with a small stride. Hand load is minimal. Swings down on ball. Exit Velocity topped at 74 mph. Defensively- throws topped at 77 mph across the infield. Heavy feet going laterally. Funnels ball to chest, creates momentum going toward first base on finish. Throws from high-3/4 slot with some armside run. Pitching- fastball topped at 78 mph, sat 76-77. Curveball has 12/6 tilt at 67-68, also flashed a changeup with armside run at 70 mph. High-3/4 slot, stabby arm action. Creates extension over front landing leg. Drives down the mound well on back side. Closes upper body off in balance point - coils up.
New Jersey Games (July 23-25, 2016)
Napolitano is a 5-foot-9 165-pound RHP/INF that is still growing. Ran a 8.17 60. Offensively, Napolitano starts off with a slightly opened narrow stance and uses a foot stride with a hand load. Hands start above his shoulder with the bat horizontal to the ground. As he starts foot stride, hands load back and bat becomes more vertical. Occasionally gets long in finish, needs to stay in legs more with swing to shorten up.
Defensively - choppy footwork in field. Exchange is clean, arm action is short and stabby. Throws across infield were registered at 76 mph.
Pitching - Starts with a big first step and a balance point that turns his hips and upper body away from catcher. Can read numbers on jersey at balance point. Crouches going down the mound, high-3/4 to over the top slot. Topped at 77, but sat 75-76 mostly. 68-69 mph sweeper-type slurve with 10/4 break.
