Reilly did not pitch during the Showdown, but at his best he has one of the most electric fastballs in college baseball. However, his control has been inconsistent during his first two collegiate seasons and that could have been the reason for the no show. He will also flash a plus slider with hard tilt in the 83-86 range, to go along with a useful mid-80s changeup. It's real stuff. Day One stuff if he can harness it when earning the opportunity.

Reilly has the most electric fastball on the Vanderbilt roster, but his command was inconsistent in his first collegiate season last year. So when Reilly took over for starter Chris McElvain to start the fifth inning Friday and immediately started pounding strikes at 96-98 mph, it was an eye-opener. He struck out the side in order in that frame, getting strike three on a pair of 97 mph heaters and a good backdoor slider at 86. He held 93-96 mph velo with riding life (spin rates into the 2500s) over the next three innings and flashed a plus slider with hard tilt in the 83-86 range, along with a useful mid-80s changeup. It's real stuff, and if he can harness it like he did in Week One, look out.

Sits comfortably in the 93-to-96 mph velo band and reaches 97. He also showcased a tilted mid-80s slider (with shorter, upper-80s cut version) and low-80s changeup with arm-side action. Over his two summer starts with Orleans, Reilly struck out ten over his ten scoreless innings of work while walking just four and holding opposing bats to a .121 BAA. He should be in the mix for Vandy’s weekend rotation in 2022 and has the stuff to emerge as a potential first round arm in 2023.
