2017 New Jersey State Games (July 26-27, 2017)
Shulman has a broad shouldered, athletic build at 6-foot 180-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.31 seconds and recorded an exit velocity of 86 MPH. Offensively – LHH starts in a tall, slightly opened stance with hands in line with back shoulder. Uses a stride to start swing as hands load back slightly and fluidly. Easy, effortless hands and hips through the zone. Advanced barrel control for age with balance throughout swing and finish. Uphill swinger produces line drive pop with extension in hands. Defensively – Shows smooth footwork and clean hands in approach at 3B. Throws topped at 81 MPH across the diamond with backspin and carry on the bag. Quick first step and reaction times at 3B. Made several highlight plays during gameplay at 3B. Pitching – Fastball topped at 84 MPH and sat mostly 81-83. Flashed a changeup with armside fade at 71-72 as well. Up tempo delivery in a low, strong balance point. Level shoulders going down the mound. High-3/4 slot on release with a long, clean arm action. Strong, firm landing leg on release. Foot lands square to homeplate. Balanced, under control finish. High ceiling prospect on the mound as he continues to get stronger.
