2019 Preseason All State Showcase

Navy recruit. Furey possesses a real strong and broad-shouldered frame at 6-foot, 205-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.49 seconds and an exit velo of 88 MPH. Starts tall at the plate with his feet even. Keeps his hands low, just below shoulder height. Uses a small leg kick. Hands move directly backwards during his load. Keeps his barrel through the zone, creating strong contact to all fields. Strong lower half, shows some pullside power. Took defensive reps behind the plate, recording a velo of 80 MPH on his throws and pop times ranging from 2.00-2.15 seconds. Stays low and athletic while making throws down to bases. Makes his transfer at chest height. Made strong, on target throws.

Furey has a physical and athletic build at 6-foot, 190-pounds. Ran the 60 yard dash in 7.73 seconds. Recorded an exit velo of 83 MPH. Offensively, he begins at the plate in a slightly open stance and feet wide. Hands start at shoulder height, near his body. Minimal stride. During his load his hands move straight back with a slight bat wrap. Elbow becomes parallel with the ground. Smooth weight shift. Stays balanced throughout. Barrel stays in the zone. Defensively, Furey took reps behind the plate. Touched 73 MPH on his throws down to second. Recorded pop times ranging from 2.08-2.20 seconds. Stays athletic as he gets in position to throw to bases. Transfers the baseball away from his body at chest height. Gets to a throwing position quickly. Short arm action, made accurate throws from a high 3/4 slot.
