Some guys can hit falling out of bed and Boeve is one of those guys. A physical presence at 6-foot-3 and 200 pounds, the left handed hitter produced a .364/.491/.729 slash with 23 doubles, eight home runs and 12 stolen bases last spring. He then headed to the Cape and reached base at a .403 clip. This spring his slugging has fallen off a bit with just seven extra base hits in 80 plate appearances, but with 14 walks, three strikeouts and a .429/.538/.587 production line he continues to be a force in the batter’s box. His other tools are all playable, but it’s his hit tool that stands out, and the one that will likely get him selected in the top three rounds this July.
Cape Cod: Showed big lift in BP but struggled to produce impact power in-game for Y-D. There's strength in the swing and feel in the approach, but he too often got out early on his front side and the actions in field trended towards the stiff side. As a high-level college producer at a mid-major program he profiles as a late-day two dev target with a corner defensive profile and some foundational value in his approach
5-foot-11, 165 pound left handed hitting infielder ran a 7.52 60 yard sprint. Open stance, toe tap timings, short compact barrel path through the zone. Hard contact during round of BP. Posted an 85 mph exit velocity. Strong actions in the infield, hands and feet work through the ball, funnels through his body, athleticism in actions, topped out at 78 mph across the infield. Strong follow for the 2020 class in Nebraska.
