5/21/17- 6-foot-0, 195 pound two way player ran a 75 60 yard sprint. Top hitter in the 2018 class for Nebraska. Mechanically quite. Hard contact all fields approach. Compact line drive swing plane with the ability to elevate the baseball. Advanced feel for first base or the outfield at the next level.
9/18/16- Solidly built left-hander with wider shoulders. Phillips went 4 innings on mound striking out 11 batters. Pitched 79-83 mph; touching 84 mph with good command of fastball to both sides of plate. Has above avg. late run to arm-side of plate. Changeup is solid; but breaking ball is well above avg. 2/8 shape, solid depth on break, and thrown with very good arm speed registering 75-77 mph. Looks to continue to add fastball velo and should be receiving considerable follow interest from colleges.
5/22/16- 5-foot-11, 185-pound OF/1B ran a 7.38 60 yard sprint. At the plate, has a square stance with small stride that starts weight transfer and hands. Uphill swing plane with a long barrel throughout the zone. Power to pull side. Playable actions in the both the outfield and infield. Throws accurately across the infield at 80 mph and 81 mph from the outfield. Was not available to throw at event due to pitching in the state finals. Was 82-84 mph with his fastball mostly working away with quality run and command.
2/13/16- 5-foot-10, 180-pound two-way player ran a 5.22 40-yard sprint. Quiet body at the plate. Gap to gap approach with line drive swing plane. 78 mph exit velocity off a tee. Shows ability to make routine plays in both infield and outfield. Accuracy with throws with good carry. On the mound, loose athletic action. Stays compact and closed as hands break. Fastball is downhill with good arm side run. Consistent strike thrower with solid command. 11/5 breaking ball projects as above average. Solid fade on firm changeup with run and sink.
