Uncommitted. Smith was very impressive this weekend for the Charlotte Baseball Academy. Definitely an under the radar guy who proved he has the skillset to compete. A primary OF that has some great speed on the bases and tracking down balls in the OF. Smith’s most impressive thing was his hit tool, though. He is a gap to gap hitter with a great approach and some pop. Smith will go down to get a pitch but then will meet a pitch up like he did with a backside ground rule 2B for a 2RBI double that was absolutely smoked on an up and out pitch. Smith is a very twitchy athlete who gets great rotation in his swing, which creates some hard contact. At 6’0 and 165, Smith will only continue to add weight to his already strong and athletic frame.
