Large frame at 6-foot-8, 240 pounds. Has continued to add athleticism over the past year as he settles into his size. Long arm action works to an over-the-top slot. Works level and in-line. Fights for the rhythm of the delivery at times, showing more consistency in the stretch. Fastball ranged 79-81, seeming to play better vs hitters. Around the zone with all pitches. Breaking ball has a gradual 10/4 arc. Similar window and hand speed to the fastball it sat 68-73.
Tall with length, standing 6-foot-7, 220 pounds. Projection left in the delivery and arm. Touched 80 in one of his first bullpens of the year working from a high-3/4 slot with some rhythm in the delivery, working level and in-line. Head leaves the line at times as the arm reaches the top of the arc, opening the window for the hitter early. Change-up has downward action at times, producing deception with hand speed, sitting 71-73. Curveball has late 10/4 arc with near fastball hand speed, ranging 66-68. In the zone with all three, lacking command in the January bullpen.
08.16.16
An imposing 6-foot-7, 220 pound righty that works from an abbreviated wind-up with a pre-set pivot foot. There is some effort in the high-3/4 delivery as the arm is sectioned and at times rushed. The fastball touched 80 and the breaking ball has continued to improve with a gradual 11/5 shape, sitting 67-69, and in the zone. Linkous' change is intriguing as it is the pitch he throws with the least tension, producing a velocity of 72-75.
07.19.16: A tall, lean build this right hander showed excellent body control. Standing 6-foot-7, 215 pounds the imposing righty showed feel for the zone with downhill leverage. The fastball ranged 77-79 with slider and change-up sitting 70-71. Working from a high-3/4 slot with a long, clean arm swing, Linkous worked on line throughout the delivery that begins on the 3B side.
