Cape Cod- Loose, athletic lefty with a quick arm and fastball up to 93 mph. There also looks to be more velo in the tank for the aggressive-minded, 6-foot, 175-pounder. From a three-quarter release his sinking fastball and plus change combo were working early during his start against Wareham on July 25. He also flashed an average curveball at 76-77 which induced a few more empty swings. Although he got on the side of it often, he showed good feel with plenty of arm speed. It projects to be a plus pitch down the road once his release point is mastered and his command sharpens. After striking out four of the first six batters he faced, Rogers suddenly hit a wall with his control, walking three of the next six before being removed from the game in the bottom of the 4th. With three quality pitches, an athletic delivery and a live arm, Rogers profiles as a starter at the pro level. His control must obviously be improved from what he showed on the Cape (14 walks, 21 strikeouts in 13 IP), but despite his thin frame, the soon-to-be Golden Eagle southpaw should easily attract top five round interest next summer.
