Zach Bates: LHP/OF, (2023) Hickman, MO. 5-foot-9, 135-pound slim frame. At the plate, Bates had a max exit velocity of 80 mph. Started in a wide stance with an arm bar load, then used a small leg kick to start his swing. Bat speed is average, exhibits level swing plane and level finish. Through the round he found some barrels. Gap to gap approach. In the infield, had firm hands, a clean exchange and choppy footwork. Used a short arm action with a ¾ slot. Recorded a 60 time of 8.19 at the event. On the mound, showed some arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Slow-tempo type pitcher and uses easy effort. Tall balance point with even shoulders. Lands open with a falling off finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 68-69 mph; shows arm side command and running action. He had slight action on his curveball (59-61).
