Nicholas Phillips: 3B/RHP, (2024) DeSmet, MO. 6-foot-1, 150-pound lanky frame. During batting practice, Phillips best exit velocity was 77 mph. Begins in a wide stance with a low load, then uses a leg kick just before his swing. Has above average bat speed, short swing plane and high finish. He found a couple of barrels with some loud contact. Line drive approach. While catching, he had a pop time of 2.55-2.59, he made throws to second at velocities up to 68 mph. Solid while in the infield, recorded position velocities up to 74 mph; has a lengthy exchange, consistent hands and developing feet. Decent accuracy to the bases, used a loose arm action and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.91 at the event. Average on the mound, showed some arm speed with a high ¾ arm angle and a loose arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher who uses some effort. Balance is tall point with even shoulders in his delivery. Lands square with a clean finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 72-74 mph with a max of 75 mph; showed up in the zone command and running action. Showed command low in the zone on his 12/6 curveball (60-62). His changeup (64-65) has fading action.
