Hughes was impressive at the plate and on the mound for the Oakland Bulldogs. The right-handed batter reached every time he was up and went 2-for-2 at the plate with a walk, HBP, and an RBI while scoring four runs. Both hits were deep doubles to left field in which Hughes reached with ease. Mechanically, Hughes has a crouched stance with high hands. He turns quickly on the ball with a compact swing keeping the bat close to his body. In addition, Hughes shoved on the mound for the one inning that he pitched. The righty started the game on the bump and was pulled after the first inning so the Bulldogs could save his arm for later in the weekend. In the one inning he pitched, Hughes struck out three batters and only walked one. His fastball was thrown 71-75 mph with a 65-67 mph curveball.
