Jesse Holmes: C, (2021) Mattawan, MI. Olivet College Commit, 6-foot-1, 170-pound athletic frame. Confident at the plate, the right-handed hitter showed his power in the box with a strong exit velocity of 92 mph. Started in an athletic balanced stance with a quick load, then used a small leg kick just before his swing. Bat speed is explosive, exhibits upward uphill swing plane and high finish. He created a lot of loud contact and found some barrels. Up the middle approach. While catching, throw downs to second topped out at 72 mph. Showed his ability to throw runners out with an efficient pop time of 1.97-2.02.Showed his athleticism during the event with a sub-seven 60 time of 6.93.
Hitting: At the plates from a crouched stand right hand hit her so fast and through the zone producing hard line drives. Has a feel for his barrel at the plate. Had one of the better round of BP.
Fielding: Behind the plate had the top pop time on the day showing quick feet and a smooth glove to hand transfer. Accurate throws down to 2B.
Fielding: Behind the plate presents a strong target for the pitcher. Shows athleticism coming out the shoot throwing down to 2B. Threw a 2.08-2.20 down to 2B at 72 mph. In the OF allows his athleticism to be on full display, covering ground and showing good carry on his throws 76 mph.
Swing: Sets up with a small crouch using a quick front leg lift and aggressive cut. Makes hard contact at the plate with line drives and some crushed balls in the gap. 85 mph exit velocity.
