6-foot-2, 195 pound powerful athlete ranked 17th in the Michigan 2015 Class. Good skill set in the outfield reacting well to the ball off the bat, long lean body helps cut down balls in the gaps. Plus power to the pull side in his bat from the left side of the plate. With strength gain to long lean body will become a middle of lineup bat at the next level.
2/28/18 - Physical specimen at 6-foot-3, 210-pounds with a developed lower half and room to add even more strength in his upper body. Shows close to average or better tools across the board, although they didn’t show up consistently in game action early in the weekend. A plus runner, Robinson shows some instincts on the bases and got down the line as well as 4.19. While he shows average raw power in batting practice and drove one ball deep into the LCF gap, he was almost always late to the fastball in game action, contacting the fastball very deep in the zone and making all of his contact in the air to the opposite field. With a simple, easy rhythm in the box, plenty of bat speed and excellent hand eye, it’s easy to dream on what Robinson could be offensively as he works to get started earlier and be on time to drive the fastball. Some of this may be approach oriented as well. Defensively, Robinson should profile to be average, although he did misplay a ball, coming in before being burned over his head. His arm works well but doesn’t produce outstanding carry, probably grading a bit below average. As a college junior with tools, projection and a solid performance in the Cape Cod League last summer, he should be selected in the top 10 rounds this June.
