New England Procase

6-foot-3, 200-pound, big framed right-handed pitcher, well proportioned with strength throughout. Off the mound, hands are set higher, builds momentum down the mound, could stay over rubber a tick longer. The arm action is clean, working out of a higher slot, pitching downhill. The arm is fast and powerful, clocked at at 89-91 mph with late action. Throws a hard slider at 77-80 mph, swing in miss offering. Also mixed in a power splitter, clocked at 77-80 mph. Chance to be a draft pick at some point.

6/11/19

Body Type: 6-foot-3, 185-pound very projectable frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: Works quickly on the hill with an uptempo delivery. Delivery requires some effort. Compact arm action with obvious speed behind it. There’s some minor timing issues to clean up that could help pitchability/even add a tick or two but there’s no denying the electricity when in the zone.
Fastball: Fastball was up to 89 mph and heavy. Slight arm side action at times.
Curveball: 71-74 mph. Tosses a sharp, power breaking ball that was an above average offering when in the zone.
Changeup: 75-77 mph. Decent pitch that has some fading action to it.
Pitchability: A bit erratic at times but he showed more pitchability than we’ve seen in past. Stuff was electric at times.

6/03/19

Body Type: 6-foot-3 185-pound thin athletic frame.
Mechanical/Delivery Notes: A tight arm action that is slightly late causing to miss up in the zone sometimes. Incorporates lower half well into delivery. With repeatable delivery command should increase.
Fastball: 84-90mph with a lot of life to it. Slight arm side run to it. Consistency isn/t the greatest but can become above average with some work.
Curveball: 74-77mph. 11/5 movement with some depth over action to it.
Pitchability: Needs to consistently throw fastball and curveball in the zone.
Additional Comments: Live arm but struggled to consistently pound the zone.
Swing Mechanics:  Smooth and simple load into lower half.
Hit:  Level bat path to all fields.  Natural ball flight to the middle of the field.
Power:  Pop to come as he develops.
Field: Plays too and through in a timely fashion. One handed play through with ball skills on par for class.
Throw: Arm is top tool out there. Ball jumps out of hand with easy carry.
Defensive Projection: Corner Outfield.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound right-hander turned heads before he jumped on the mound by showing 93 mph arm strength from the outfield. Hill then showed he could translate that velocity to the mound by running the fastball up to 90 mph. This was a big time jump from what we saw in the winter where he topped at 83 mph with the fastball. There are still things to clean up and he will need to be in the zone more often but there was obvious upside shown.

12/02/18

At the plate Hill uses his height and long levers to generate good bat speed through the zone. He has a toe tap load with a quiet upper body during the load. He showed good barrel control and a downhill bat path producing low line drives and backspin. Corner type in the outfield. Plays under control through and maintains rhythm through. Fluid actions in general. Arm shows above average strength. Two-way prospect that also looked the part on the mound. Lengthy, long-lever frame that gets down the mound well. Easy delivery with a fastball that was up to 83 mph. Shows the physical signs of more velocity to come. Complements the fastball with an above average breaking ball. Another talented arm for a loaded New Albany staff.

60-yard Dash: 7.24
Outfield Velocity: 84
Exit Velocity: 89

9/24/17

At the plate he starts in a balanced setup. Uses a short stride for timing while taking hands back prior to launch. Swing is compact and bat has some quickness to it. His level path allows him to consistently find the barrel. A top of the lineup type skill set. In the outfield he looked athletic and actions are fluid. Plays through the baseball with above average ball skills and maintains momentum into throws. Arm is an average to slightly above average tools.

Home to First: 4.62
Outfield Velocity: 77
Exit Velocity: 78

6/13/16

6-foot-3, 170-pound projectable frame.  At the plate starts tall and starts his loading sequence with a small leg kick. Has some stiffness to his hips. Hands stay simple before taking a level path to the ball. Top exit velocity was 64 mph and ran a 4.98 from home to first. In the outfield he showed of above average glove skills and solid footwork. Threw to home plate with 73 mph arm strength.

5/13/16

6-foot-3, 170-pound projectable frame.  At the plate starts tall and uses very minimal load before his aggressive stride forward. Has some batspeed through the zone. Better to pull side. Registered an exit velocity of 76 mph and ran a 5.01 down the line. Aggressive footwork with a loose arm in the outfield. Plays through nicely and has finish on his throws.

2/13/16

5-foot-9, 145-pound athletic build. From the left side he starts with an athletic stance at the plate. Gets momentum through an inward knee turn load and does a good job of transferring weight into contact. As he strides forward his hands stay loaded and take an uphill path to the ball. Reached a top exit velocity of 67 mph.  In the outfield he used athletic footwork to get to the ball and fielded it in the middle of his body. Would like to see him get more out of his crow hop. From a high-3/4 slot he was able to throw accuretly, with 72 mph arm strength to home plate. Ran an 8.01 60-yard dash.
