A fastball with hop has a flat approach angle and visually jumps through the zone. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher swing and miss average. Hop+ of 100 is MLB average.

Fastball
Rise+
A fastball with rise has a high percentage of backspin. When thrown up in the zone, it is more likely to generate a higher fly ball percentage. Rise+ of 100 is MLB average
Joshua Kopetski: LHP/OF, (2023) Thornton Academy, ME. Rhode Island Commit, 6-foot, 160-pound lean lanky frame. Projectable on the mound, used a consistent loose arm action with a high ¾ arm angle while showing developing arm speed. Feel type pitcher and used some effort. Showed consistent balance point and in line shoulders. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 83-84 mph; showed running action and control arm side around the zone. (Max spin 1779; Avg 1675). Had arm side command and gradual fading action on his changeup (74-75). His slider (71-74) shows glove side command and slurvey action. (Max spin 1501; Avg 1331).

Joshua Kopetski: LHP/OF, (2023) Thornton Academy, ME. 6-foot, 155-pound lanky frame. Raw in the box, the left-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 82 mph. Began in a balanced stance with a controlled load, then used a long stride. Bat speed was average, had a long swing plane and level finish. He barreled up a few balls with loud contact. Base hit approach. Above average from the outfield, his best throws to the bases were registered at 83 mph; has athletic feet, a clean exchange, and sure hands. Fielded the ball out front with athletic movement laterally. Used a loose arm action with a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Above average on the mound, showing above average arm speed he had a long arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows some effort. I would like to see him stay online longer as he spins through his delivery at this point of his development. Sat with his fastball at 81-82 mph; has running action and command around the zone. His curveball (66-67) shows sweeping action and around the zone command. Shows command around the zone and tight action on his slider (73-74).

6-foot, 155-pound left-handed pitcher who is progressing very nicely for the graduate class of 2023. Look for him to make a significant jump in the coming year. The fastball sat 78-79 mph with arm side action to it. The spin pitch is big in shape, sitting 63-64 mph, needs added fastball hand speed to the pitch. The changeup is a 72-73 mph and needs a spin fix. The delivery has minimal crossfire to it and the slot is slightly above 3/4. The lift is repeated, turns back to the hitter and hides the ball relatively well. The arm works free and long. He needs to keep the same hand speed on all his pitches, as he slows his hand down on his secondary stuff. Good looking arm from Maine
9/15/19
The 5-foot-11, 135 pound left-handed hitting outfielder starts in an even setup. The hands move back well and get into a strong hitting position. The weight on the bottom half stays centered over the midline, causing him to jump to the front side during the swing. Because of this the bat drags through the zone, but he does show some quickness in the hands. I think with a tiny load adjustment, he has a chance to develop into a solid hitter. He showed the potential for juice off the tee, with a 76 mph exit velo. He also ran an 8.27 sixty at the event. In the outfield, the arm shows well. The left-handed thrower had the top velocity from the outfield at 76 mph. He moves well and the transition into the throwing motion was good. He also showed he can get good reads and track fly balls during the scrimmage. On the mound, he is still figuring out his delivery but his arm is good. During the delivery, he turns his back to home plate and had a hard time getting back in line. The fastball was 70-74 mph with late life. I think once the delivery is simplified, the arm potential will show. The breaking ball was 52 mph and the change up was 65 mph. Both pitches are works in progress with the inconsistent delivery.I like the potential for this young guy. The arm talent is evident. With some mechanical tweeks, he should see major improvements.

5-foot-6, 110-pound left-handed pitcher. The fastball touched 67 mph. The spin pitch has the correct shape, touching 51 mph. The changeup is coming along nicely, sits at 53 mph. The delivery is online with his feet. The lift is athletic and coil, showing number to the hitter. The glove side is posted well and he stays with his arm. The slot is above ¾ and the movements are athletic and repeated. Solid prospect, and should develop well with physical strength.
JUNIOR FUTURES 5-foot-6,110-pound left-handed pitcher and outfielder. Positionally, ran a 8.49 sixty on the laser at the event. The glove and approach in the outfield is done well. Threw 73 mph from the outfield to home plate during the defensive portion of the workout. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 70 mph. The setup is even in base, the front foot steps into the pitch. The swing is long to the ball, needs to continue to get stronger. On the mound, the fastball touched 69 mph, minimal arm side run. The spin pitch is 55-57 mph, big in shape. The changeup is 60-62 mph. The delivery is online with the feet, above 3/4 in slot. The tracking of the front shoulder can stay online longer. The lift is quick in tempo, and the head has a small lean to it as the arm comes through.
