3/7/18 - 5’9/185, L/R, Junior. Athletic catcher with above average arm and agile feet. Did well with what he is known for; catch and throw. Super quick release. Sometimes too quick, as it affected his accuracy. Pop times ranged from 1.83 to 2.01 with the throw for the 1.83 being well off the bag. Blocking comes natural. Above average runner underway. Offensively, he sets up with an open stance in the back of the box. Takes a soft stride to even with good balance. Hands are slow to the ball and his swing is long. May learn to cheat a bit with his swing to catch up to the fastball, but lacks the needed bat speed to ever be more than a 8-hole hitter with wood in pro ball. Most likely a Day 2 pick who profiles really well as a backup ML catcher.
