Ashton Crowell: SS/OF, (2023) Biddeford, ME. 5-foot-8, 155-pound lean athletic build. Projectable and athletic during batting practice, the right-handed hitter recorded an exit velocity of 87 mph. (67.7 mph bat speed average). (21.7 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced wide stance with a small load, then used a short stride. Bat speed was above average, had an uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Barreled up some balls with loud contact. Aggressive gap to gap approach. Above average in the infield, his best throw was recorded at 83 mph; had athletic developing footwork, a clean natural exchange, and soft sure hands. Bat speed is above average developing, exhibits an uphill loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. Barreled up lots of balls with loud contact. Aggressive approach. Above average athletic while in the infield, made throws up to 78 mph; had consistent athletic footwork, soft consistent hands, and a clean exchange. Above average in the outfield, his best throws to the infield topped out at 86 mph; had soft consistent hands, athletic smooth footwork, and a clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were athletic. Used a loose quick arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.59.  (Max spin ; Avg ).

Future Games

5-foot-8, 145-pound right-handed hitting middle infielder/outfielder. He ran a 6.96 sixty on the laser at the event. The athleticsm is solid and he can do multiple things on the field. The approach in the infield is appropriate as he stays active with the feet during the catch of the baseball. The glove is soft and he threw 81 mph across the diamond during the infield portion of the workout. The bat has an exit velocity of 85 mph. The hands work free and the swing is too big for his skill set. He needs to shorten down and use the field to his advantage. The setup is wide in base and he steps to the ball as it approaches the hitting zone. The path is flat to slightly uphill at times. He is very athletic and he runs. Good follow.

5-foot-8, 145-pound right-handed hitting utility guy. Ran a 4.7 down the line on his dig to first base. The approach in the outfield is done appropriately as he can play out there with ease. Threw 77 from the outfield. The infield glove is soft, and the prep steps to and through the ball can continue to improve. Threw 72 mph across from shortstop. Behind the dish, threw 70 mph. The foot work needs to be shortened as he is too wide with his feet, should clean up nicely as he matures. The receiving and blocking is above average for his age. Pop time of 2.19. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 77 mph, as additional physical strength in warranted in the coming year. The setup is wide in base, uses a knee to knee bottom half approach. The hands work nicely as the path is flat to contact and he accelerates through the ball. Solid prospect who loves to play.

5-foot-7, 140-pound right-handed hitting outfielder and infielder. Defensively, threw 75 from the outfield with a clean arm and plenty of carry to the throws. Moves athletically and could play in the outfield with ease. Threw 67 mph across the diamond, the prep steps and movement to the ball are appropriate. Ran a 7.28 sixty at the event. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 76 mph. The setup is wide, slightly open with the front foot. Uses a pick up and put down of the front foot as the ball approaches. Showed bat speed, the path is long but should be cleaned up with physical strength as he develops.

5-foot-8, 140-pound right-handed hitting shortstop and catcher. Also worked out in the outfield as well. Threw 69 mph from right-field to home plate. The approach is athletic and appropriate. The ability to play outfield would be an easy transition for him. At shortstop, the approach with his feet needs to continue to improve to and through the ball. Threw 68 mph across the diamond with accuracy. Like the potential behind the plate as a catcher, threw 65 mph with a pop time of 2.12- 2.25. The footwork will have to improve as he doesnt get all the way closed down to throw. The arm works well and he will have plenty of arm strength as he ages. Ran a 7.51 sixty at the event. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 74 mph. Sets up with his feet wide, front foot open. Uses a big leg lift to close down as the ball approaches. The path is flat and direct to the ball. Showed the ability to spread the barrel around the field. Physical strength is needed to aid the offensive game. Very good athlete with excellent potential.
