Body: 5’8”, 173 pounds. Stocky, well proportioned frame with strength held. Delivery: Started from the middle of the rubber, fast side rocker into a pause working towards a controlled medium leg lift with hip coil across his body showing gradual, heightening pace to the delivery. Landed smoothly with connection on the front side, releasing out in front. Arm Action: RH. High ¾ slot with repeatability on the bump, medium takeaway with minimal restrictions present. FB: T81 mph, 78-80 mph. Average spin rate of 1399 rpm. Low spin pointing towards heavy play down in the zone; got downhill well holding strikes at a 30% clip. CB: 66-68 mph. Average spin rate of 1771 rpm. Developing action with average feel for spin; short bullet rotation at the moment. CH: 64-66 mph. Adequate look with lower spin and up to 15 inches of arm side fade to it at times, has the chance to be a solid offering down the line. Might need to speed up the arm in the future to increase deception.
MD Freshman Free Showcase 1.26.19
Athletic body type and 5’6’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, open stance at the plate. Creates some hand separation in load. Short, slightly uphill swing path that levels out at times. Stays behind the ball well and gets food extension through contact. Showed some lower half involvement and bat speed. Line drive type hitter with an exit velocity of 70 mph. Moves well in the infield and fields the ball out in front with fundamental footwork. Showed quick, clean exchanges throwing with shorter arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 67 mph. Up-tempo, side-step wind-up and leg kick into a tall balance point with hands set high. Clean down-to-out hand separation and slight down-to-out lower half drive off the rubber. Gets over front side well and lands square to the plate with an athletic finish. Creates some arm speed through release and throws downhill pounding the zone with strikes. Throws with slightly long arm action from a mid three-quarters slot with easy effort. Fastball sat 69-70 mph and touched 72 mph. Knuckleball was 52-58 mph and breaking ball showed gradual 11/5 shape at 59-63 mph.
