McCormick Buchner LHP St. Mary’s (MD) 2020 Rider
Projectable frame at 6-foot-2, 170-pounds. Delivery starts with side step rocker, lower half closed off at leg lift, and hands break early. Hips and shoulders elevated getting down the mound, lands on line at foot strike, and pitches with low effort but still has some pace to his mechanics. Average arm circle and throws from a low three-quarter arm slot. Fastball showed some solid arm side run to both sides of the plate and Buchner looked comfortable running back over to his glove side. Fastball sat 78-80 and touched 81 a few times. Curveball had 1/7 shape and sat 68-70 mph. Changeup had arm speed and intent at 70-71 mph.
Another athletic LHP from St. Mary's that came on for one inning in relief. Took only six pitches to record three outs in a clean sixth inning. Controlled side-step wind-up and smooth, easy delivery. Lands square to the plate and throws from a low-mid three-quarters arm slot with long arm action. Finishes more upright throwing with very easy effort. Fastball sat 79-81 mph and breaking ball was 70-72 mph with gradual 11/5 shape.
9/11/16 - Athletic projectable frame at 6-foot-1, 160-pounds. Ran a 6.79 60-yard dash. Hits from an open set up. Smooth load to hitting position slightly closed off. Level swing path and shows some extension. Gets around the ball at times. Creates nice bat speed and has blance throughout swing. Active feet in the outfield. Lcean exchange and sound arm action throwing from a low side arm angle from the outfield. Outfield velocity of 78 mph with an exit velocity of 82 mph. Also is a pitching prospect.
