Landman is a physical 5-foot-10, 192 pound prospect. The right-handed hitting catcher had an exit velocity of 80 mph off the tee. He hits out of a narrow, slightly open stance, with the hands set in a relaxed position near the back shoulder. He transfers the weight to the back leg with a lifting of the front leg. The swing takes a slightly elevated path through contact and he gets extended.
Defensively, he showed a quick, strong arm behind the plate, with a velocity of 75 mph on his throws. The stance is balanced and square, with the glove relaxed in the center of the chest. As he transitions to throw, the feet are quick and get him into a direct line with the target. The glove to hand transfer is good and he stays in an athletic throwing position. He finishes over the front leg and in line with the target.
Tee Exit Velocity- 80 mph
Catching Velocity -75 mph
3/24/19
Threw 68 mph from behind the plate. Pop time of 2.06. The set up is athletic and the feet move well as he transitions to throw. The glove to hand exchange is good and the arm is short to the backside. The arm swing is clean but he does drift to the 3B side occasionally, causing the ball to sail a little. Overall, the fundamentals are really good. I think there is a lot of upside behind the plate. As he continues to grow and get stronger, this will be a very good defensive catcher. At the plate, the tee exit velocity was 84 mph. The set up is balanced and slightly open. The load is simple and gets to a strong position to hit. The swing is violent to contact and extends through contact with some elevation. This is a good looking young hitter. There is definite power potential from the right side.
