A low-slot lefthander, Sullivan slings a low-90s, high spin fastball into the 2600s rpm. There is funk to his operation which helps create deception and his across the body landing creates good angle. His fastball generates a ton of swing/miss and plays up at least a full grade from its velocity, sitting 90-91 and topping at 93 against Louisville. Both his average 80-81 mph slider and fringe 83-84 changeup play well off his elevated fastball. He does tip his changeup by slowing his arm, but it is a usable pitch and slows bats. He typically set up right handed hitters to finish them with an elevated fastball to his armside. Although his start against Louisville was his worst of the season (3.2 IP, 5 H, 3 ER, 3 SO), Sullivan has posted a 5-1 record with a 1.56 ERA in 40.1 IP and 71 SO for the season. He will likely be selected in the top three rounds, if not a round earlier.
3/30/23
A transfer from Northwestern, Sullivan went 5-2, 4.45 for the Wildcats last year en route to earning a spot on the Big Ten All-Freshman team. He continued to throw well in the summer on the Cape, punching out a hitter per inning and maintaining a low ERA (3.86) and WHIP (1.107) for Harwich. A low-slot lefthander, Sullivan has a high spin fastball up to 2633 rpm from a sub-5-foot release point and gets whiff after whiff on his “invisiball”. For the season Sullivan has posted a 4-1 record with a 1.76 ERA in 32 innings pitched.
