Ryan Cloutier: RHP/SS, (2022) Central Catholic, MA. 6-foot-1, 200-pound lean build. Athletic in the box, the right-handed hitter had an exit velocity of 92 mph. (61.90 mph bat speed average). (19.60 mph hand speed average). Starts in a wide stance with a controlled load, then uses a small leg kick. Has above average bat speed, uphill swing plane and high finish. Found multiple barrels with loud contact. Pull side approach. Athletic in the infield, displayed a velocity of 80 mph; has consistent feet, soft hands, and a clean exchange. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Consistent accuracy to the bag, used a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot. Clocked a 60 time of 7.5 at the event. Above average on the mound, showing quick arm speed he used a high ¾ arm angle with a loose arm action. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows some effort. He has falling off shoulders and a consistent balance point. Lands closed with a recoil finish. Produced a fastball that came in at 86-87 mph; throws a heavy fastball with running action and command around the zone. (Max spin 2343; Avg 2194). Has a 11/5 curveball (74-76) that shows sweeping action and around the zone command. (Max spin 1976; Avg 1976). Has control around the zone and slight running action on his flat changeup (76-78). His sharp slider had tight action and glove side command. (Max spin 2136; Avg 1963).

Gap to gap approach. Solid showed his live arm in the infield with position velocities up to 86 mph; has rhythmic feet, a clean exchange, and sure hands. Fielded the ball out front with average movement laterally. From a ¾ slot, showed consistent accuracy to the base with a long arm action. Projectable on the mound, used a long arm action with a high ¾ arm angle while showing quick arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher who shows max effort. Showed athletic balance point with in line shoulders. Lands square with a clean finish. Threw his fastball 86-87 mph; had consistent control and tilt. Had consistent control and tight action on his 12/6 curveball (69-70). His tight slider (76-77) had late action and consistent control. His splitter (75-77) had in the zone control and slight action.

Defense:  (IF) Sure hands, rhythmic footwork, clean exchange. Solid.  Fielded the ball out front with average movement laterally. 

Arm: 86 mph infield velocity. Long arm action, ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Pitching: Projectable. Up-tempo delivery, max effort. High ¾ arm angle, quick arm speed, long arm action. Athletic balance point, in line shoulders, lands square, a clean finish.

PROCASE 2021

6-foot, 200-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball sat 84-85 mph with arm side action to it. The spin pitch is solid in action, sitting 69-70 mph. The addition of fastball hand speed will aid the development of the pitch. The third pitch is a split at 73-76 mph. The delivery is online, athletic, solid in tempo and online. The lift is repeated, small coil at the top and then he makes his way into foot strike. The command of the baseball is improving and the frame is starting to fill out. Would like to see him tighten up his pitches as I think his best days are in front of him. 

Future Games

6-foot-1, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball was up to 86 mph, true in shape. The spin pitch is solid, sitting 70-71 mph. The changeup is an effective pitch for him, sitting 74-75 mph. The changeup is thrown with good hand speed. The delivery is online and the slot is above 3/4 in height. The lift is solid in tempo and repeated. He does show a good amount of forward lean to the plate as he gets to the top of his lift. The tracking of the front shoulder can stay online longer as he comes off target too soon. The arm is clean and quick. The results were not what he wanted but I thought he threw the ball ok. The fastball needs some action to it and he should be good to go as he throws strikes and is aggressive. 

6-foot-1, 194-pound, strong, larger athletic frame, already filling out. A two-way player, off the mound, attacks and is aggressive. A right-handed pitcher, builds momentum down the mound, working from a higher slot. The arm is clean, small pull with front side, lower half is used well. The fastball was clocked at 84 mph, located to both sides of the plate, lives down in the zone. The breaking ball has a velocity to it, clocked at 73 mph, late action. Look for the velocity to climb, frame is strong and durable. At the plate, even wider stance, lower half is under control, small toe tap into the stride. The swing is level through the zone, finishes high with two-hands, middle to pull side approach, has enough juice to beat the outfielders. The exit velocity was clocked at 91 mph, runs ok at 7.19 sixty-yard dash. Defensively, threw 82 mph, comes through the baseball, hands are soft out front. The feeds and starts were performed correct, showed flow on pro-move. Projects for me off the mound.

6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder. On the mound, the fastball sat 82-84 mph, arm side action at times. The breaking pitch is solid in shape, sitting 70-73 mph. The slider is 72-75 mph, needs to be smaller in shape to be a true slider. The changeup is 72-73 mph with fade and the split finger is 72-73 mph. The delivery is quick in tempo, lift repeated and online with the feet. The slot is above 3/4 and the arm works freely. The tracking of the front shoulder needs to stay online as he spins off. The approach in the infield is athletic and he works his feet through the ball. He threw 81 mph out of a clean arm swing. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The setup is wide in base, front foot gains ground the ball as it approaches the hitting zone. The path is uphill to contact and the hands work free. Solid prospect.

6-foot-1, 190-pound right-handed pitcher and infielder. Threw 81 mph across the diamond as the arm has quickness to it. The glove is soft and he moves athletically to the ball. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 91 mph. The setup is wide in base, bottom half under control throughout the swing. The path is flat to the ball. Showed plus hand speed. On the mound, the fastball sat 81-83, downhill at times. The spin pitch is solid in shape, sitting 67-69 mph. He can use a little more fastball hand speed to the pitch. The changeup is 73-75, fade and sink to the pitch. The delivery is online with the feet and the slot is above 3/4. The lift is quick in tempo and his direction is online. The arm works quickly, small amount of recoil after release. Good looking prospect. 

Tee Exit Velocity- 91 mph

INF Velocity- 81 mph

6-foot, 180-pound right-handed pitcher. The fastball showed good action to it, sat at 81 -82 mph. The arm is quick and has strength to it, Threw a total of 5 different pitches in the session. The changeup was 72 mph with minimal fade. The split finger was 70-72 mph with minimal fade. The breaking ball is 67-68 mph, big in shape, The slider is 68-72 , good in shape on occasion. The delivery is online with the feet and way above 3/4. The posture is an issue as he arches the back a bit too much and pulls the glove side off target. Better direction with the front shoulder and getting control of his glove side will lead to better extension and sharper stuff. Good follow as he is a skilled player.

6-foot, 175-pound right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. The glove is solid in the infield, moves his feet through the ball. Has a good foundation to play defense at an early age, Threw 76 mph across the diamond. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 89 mph. The setup is open to start, the hands work free to the ball. The bottom half is strong and he gets usage during the swing. The contact was hard throughout the session. On the mound, the fastball touched 80 mph. The spin pitch 66-67 mph, and the shape is correct. The slider is 69-70 mph and thrown with good hand speed. The changeup is 69 mph, needs a spin fix. Also displayed a split finger at 67 mph. The delivery is online, the slot is above 3/4. The lift is athletic, small back arch as he makes his way into foot strike. The arm is quick, should throw hard at some point.

5-foot-10, 160-pound right-handed hitting infielder and pitcher. The glove is solid and he approaches the ground ball aggressively with his feet. Threw 72 mph across the diamond with accuracy. The bat has a tee exit velocity of 71 mph as physical strength is needed. The set up is even with his feet and a high back elbow. There is lift in the swing, needs to be flattened out. The hands need better direction at the start of the swing, which will shorten the path. Made solid contact in the batting practice session. On the mound, the fastball touched 75 mph with arm side run. The breaking ball is 68 mph and needs more fastball hand speed to it. The changeup is 71 mph and has the correct spin to it. Displayed a knuckleball as well.The delivery is online with his feet, the slot is plus ¾ and short on the backside. The lift is athletic and has slight forward lean as he makes his way into foot strike. Good looking young player.
