5-foot-8, 121-pound, smaller, thin athletic frame, wiry strong, with room for added weight. A right-handed hitting two-way player, twitchy athlete, is balanced in the box, hands are loose feet are even. The lower half is under control, uses a smooth toe tap for timing. The swing is level through the zone, hands working freely, hands stay inside the baseball, staying in the middle of the field, showing the ability to go back side as well. The tee exit velocity was clocked at 72 mph and ran a 4.56 from to 1st base. Shows that he can handle the bat, good contact guy. Attempts to stay inside the ball at contact, but needs to let the hands work more freely. Uses a 1-handed finish after contact. On the mound, the fastball sat 74-76 mph, minimal arm side run to the pitch. The spin pitch 61-62 mph and big in shape. The changeup is a work in progress. 5-foot-6, 110 pounds, wiry frame. Should continue to mature physically considering his age and add needed strength with it. His shoulders are sloped with average proportions. Tabicas is a two-way guy, working out as a right-handed pitcher and third baseman. He ran a 8.10 sixty yard dash. At the plate, he sets up slightly closed with the lead leg angling inward and a base that is shoulder width apart. His hands work from the shoulders with a toe tap, as he rocks onto his back leg before propelling forward during the swing. Profiles best as an all-fields spray hitter. His tee exit velocity was measured at 70 MPH. In the field, Tabicas will need to refine his skills to stick at third. The arm was measured at 70 MPH across the diamond, throwing from a high ¾ slot. He gets a quick first step towards balls, putting him in position. Will need to hone footwork and fluidity to keep himself balanced as a defender. Most comfortable on the backhand. As a starting pitcher, he works from a high ¾ slot with a simple delivery out of the windup. Arm action is clean, accelerating at the point of release. At times, the glove side can leak out before the point of release, causing him to miss up in the zone. Average extension and stride length, gets downhill. Pounds the zone with two pitches, fastball was clocked at 70-71 mph, showed command of it to the arm side, with action. The breaking ball has more side, spin, looks to open it early creating more horizontal/frisbee break, clocked at 61-63 mph. Times to the plate are quick at 1.25. Still young has plenty of time to gain strength , will aid in his development.
