Marcus Vargas: OF/LHP, (2026) Doherty Memorial, MA. 5-foot-10, 150-pound lean athletic build. Projectable and athletic in the box, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 85 mph. (67.4 mph bat speed average). (22.8 mph hand speed average). Starts in a balanced open stance with a low load, then uses a closed small stride. Bat speed is developing, uses a simple loose swing plane and good extension on his finish. He found multiple barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap aggressive approach. Athletic projectable from the outfield, he made throws to the infield at velocities up to 78 mph; shows athletic feet, a natural exchange, and soft developing hands. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Had consistent accuracy to the base and a high ¾ slot. Established speed as one of his strengths with an efficient 60 time of 6.96. Projectable on the mound, showed developing arm speed, also used a high ¾ arm angle with a consistent arm action. Feel type pitcher and shows some effort. Has a consistent balance point with in line shoulders. Has a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 77-78 mph; had running sinking action and control arm side around the zone. (Max spin 2088; Avg 1884). His curveball (68-70) showed slurvey action and glove side around the zone command. (Max spin 1881; Avg 1855). Shows arm side control and gradual fading action on his changeup (63-64).

Marcus Vargas: OF/LHP, (2026) NlA, MA. 5-foot-8, 130-pound lean athletic build. Above average and projectable in the box, the right-handed hitter's best exit velocity was 89 mph. (68.6 mph bat speed average). (21.2 mph hand speed average). Started in a balanced athletic stance with a handsy load, then used a small leg kick. Had an uphill loose swing plane, developing quick bat speed and good extension on his finish. Found lots of barrels with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable and athletic in the outfield, his throws to the bases were maxed out at 73 mph; has developing hands, a clean natural exchange, and developing athletic feet. Movements laterally were athletic and he fields the ball out front. Had a high ¾ slot with consistent accuracy to the bag. Recorded a 60 time of 7.02 at the event. Projectable and athletic on the mound, showed a high ¾ arm angle and a consistent arm action with developing arm speed. Up-tempo type pitcher and shows some effort. Displays falling off shoulders and a consistent balance point. Lands closed with a falling off finish. Threw his fastball 74-75 mph; shows running action and control arm side around the zone. (Max spin 2141; Avg 1849). His curveball (59-60) showed sweeping action and glove side control. (Max spin 1818; Avg 1758). His slider (59-60) has glove side command and slurvey action. The 4-foot-11, 90 pound switch-hitting outfielder had a tee exit velocity of 64 mph. From the right side, the stance begins out of a wide, slightly open stance. The hands are set in the middle of the chest and move into a good position after the load. The stride gets down square and the bat path is flat.
From the left side, the stance begins the same. He loads the weight nicely to the backside but the stride is consistently in from the left side. The bat path is a little longer from this side as well.
Defensively, the arm was 62 mph from the outfield. He moves well as he attacks the ground ball, with the glove in a relaxed position. The breakdown to field is controlled and he stays balanced as he fields. The transition to throw is good. He gets into a solid throwing position but falls a bit to the glove side as he finishes the throw.
On the mound, the delivery is simple and he stays balanced. He stays over the rubber before heading down the mound in line with home plate. The fastball was located well and sat 57-59 mph. He also mixed in a breaking pitch at 51-53 mph.
I like the potential. He showed a very fundamental skill-set.
