Jacob Smith: 1B/RHP, (2023) Hopedale, MA. 5-foot-11, 165-pound lean athletic build. Projectable at the plate, the left-handed hitter had a max exit velocity of 86 mph. (63.94 mph bat speed average). (22.85 mph hand speed average). Begins in a balanced wide stance with a controlled high load, then uses a small stride. Has developed quick bat speed, uphill loose swing plane and high finish. He barreled up some balls with loud contact. Gap to gap approach. Projectable while in the infield, made throws up to 78 mph; showed soft developing hands, athletic developing feet, and a clean exchange. Fields the ball out front, movements laterally were developing. Showed consistent accuracy to the base with a high ¾ slot and a loose arm action. In the 60-yard dash, he clocked a time of 7.32. Projectable on the mound, shows developing arm speed, he had a long loose arm action with a high ¾ arm angle. Feel type pitcher and used some effort. Falling off shoulders with a consistent balance point. Lands open with a falling off finish. Sat with his fastball at 74-75 mph; showed slight running action and arm side control. (Max spin ; Avg ). His curveball (65-66) had sweeping action and around the zone glove side control. (Max spin ; Avg ).

5-foot-11, 165-pound left-handed hitting first baseman. He ran 7.69 sixty at the event. The approach around the bag at first base is solid as he has a good feel for what he is doing. The feet move athletically and he threw 72 mph across the diamond from first to third base during the defensive portion of the workout. The bat has an exit velocity of 84 mph as physical strength gains are warranted. The setup is wide in base and the front foot gains minimal ground to the ball as the swing is produced. The path is long to contact. I like how the hands work and with strength gains he should show well with the bat.
