Hit: (LHH) Above average. Started in a balanced athletic stance with a controlled load, then used a toe tap stride. Above average quick bat speed. Good extension on his finish, uphill loose swing. Gap to gap approach. 

Power: 91 mph exit velocity, average 82.12 mph. 69.28 mph bat speed average. 23.10 mph hand speed average.

Defense:  (IF) Soft hands, athletic developing footwork, clean exchange. Above average.  Fielded the ball out front with developing movement laterally. 

Arm: 79 mph infield velocity. Loose arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy. 

Speed: 6.78 (60-yard).

Byrne has done some filling out since last summer's JR Futures Games. The 5-foot-10, 160 pound left-handed hitting middle infielder showed some physicality with his batting practice. Byrne already has a quiet, balanced approach at the plate but the hand-speed and the bottom half are adding juice to fluid stroke. His round was loud, showed gap to gap pop and a max exit velocity of 92 MPH.

Defensively, his actions in the middle of the diamond continue to impress. The feet are light, he moves well laterally and he showed a velocity of 78 MPH. He finishes through the ground balls well and maintains a good line toward his target.

Byrne is a talented young infielder. He continues to get stronger, giving his already good swing more gap to gap juice.

5-foot-10. 150-pound left-handed hitting middle infielder. Showed extremely well at the event as he is already a good player. Ran a 7.13 sixty at the event. The approach in the infield is online and active with the feet. The hands are soft and he shows a reliable glove. He threw 78 mph acrossed the diamond at the workout. The setup at the plate even in base and he uses a knee to knee timing mechanism on the bottom half. The hands are free to the ball and he shows a good path to contact. Good looking player

INF Velocity 78 mph

This is the second time I’m seeing this young 5-foot-9, 140 pound left-handed hitting middle infielder in the past month.  I continue to be amazed with the talent level.  The swing is balanced, athletic and the hands really work.  He showed a tee exit velocity of 78 mph but the BP is where he really shows.  He’s able to stay on balls out over the plate, as well as, turn on balls with relative ease.  While maintaining good balance throughout.

Defensively, he’s silky in the middle of the diamond.  The feet are light, athletic and he moves well laterally.  He does a nice job of working through the ball and showed a clean arm at 73 mph across the diamond.  

I’m looking forward to getting out and seeing him play this summer.  There is a ton of potential!

Tee Exit Velocity- 78 mph

The 5-foot-9, 140 pound left-handed hitting middle infielder is a good looking young player.  I was impressed with the athleticism defensively and how advanced the offensive skills were for such a young player. He had a tee exit velocity of 81 mph. The swing was balanced and the hand speed generated a lot of hard contact.  It all starts out of a wide, slightly open set up, with the hands set just off the back shoulder.  The load is a knee to knee shift to get the weight to the backside and a pushing of the hands into a strong hitting position.  The bat gets into a flat plane to and through the hitting zone, with a balanced finish. During the BP he showed the ability to drive the ball gap to gap.

Defensively, he gets the feet moving pre pitch and gets into a good ready position. Once the ball is hit, he moves well.  The feet are light and allow him to get into a good position to field.  The hands are soft and works into an athletic throwing position . He showed a quick arm and was 72 mph across the diamond.. 

I’m really excited to see him progress.  I think he has the potential to be upper level talent.  The bat is already advanced and the actions in the middle of the diamond are athletic.

Tee Exit Velocity- 81 mph
