Derek Zakrosky: SS/2B, (2022) Middleborough, MA. 5-foot-11, 175-pound. Athletic during batting practice, Zakrosky's best exit velocity was 86 mph. Began in an open stance with a controlled load, then used a controlled stride. Bat speed is average, shows an uphill swing plane and level finish. Created loud contact and found some barrels. Base hit approach. Athletic in the infield, displayed a velocity of 81 mph; shows athletic feet, a clean exchange, and soft hands. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front. Used a quick arm action and a high ¾ slot while showing consistent accuracy to the base.

Hit: (RHH) Begins in an open stance with a controlled load, then uses a controlled stride. Average bat speed. Level finish, uphill swing. Base hit approach.
Power: 86 mph exit velocity.
Defense: (IF) Soft hands, athletic footwork, clean exchange. Athletic. Laterally, movements were athletic and fielded the ball out front.
Arm: 81 mph infield velocity. Quick arm action, high ¾ slot, consistent accuracy.
Zakrosky is a 5-foot-9, 145 pound prospect. The right-handed hitting infielder had an exit velocity of 75 mph off the tee. The initial set up is athletic and square to the pitcher. The hands sit just off the back shoulder, with some pre-pitch movement. He transfers the weight to the back leg using a knee slide. The hands push back into a good launch position. The swing works through the hitting zone on a flat plane and continues well through contact.
Defensively, Zakrosky showed fluid actions in the middle of the diamond and a velocity of 72 mph on his throws. The feet are light and he glides into a balanced fielding position. He breaks down behind the ball with the glove in a good position. He showed soft hands as he transitioned through the ground ball and into the throwing position. The feet put him in a direct line with the target and the upper half follows. The arm-swing is clean and he finishes through the play on a direct line.
