He begins in a balanced, athletic stance with a controlled load. Welch then used a short stride to initiate a swing that takes a simple, flat path through the hitting zone. The swing showed bat speed and a gap to gap approach. In the infield, Welch was up to 72 MPH on his throws across the diamond, while demonstrating he had a clean exchange, sure hands, and consistent, smooth footwork.
